It’s Cold Out There

Winter is here and in a vineyard that means it’s time to prune! Our vineyard manager Scott and his helper Jeremy will personally attend to each vine pruning them back as far as needed to give the vine the most strength to grow this coming season. Over the course of the winter they will prune over 15 acres of vineyard by hand. It’s a tedious job that requires an understanding of how the vines grow and where the best place is to cut them back at. Scott and Jermey bundle up each day, even snowy days, and head out to the vineyards. Once they are done pruning they’ll begin to tie the vines to help train and protect them. These winter jobs are very important and will help the yield for falls harvest. Bundle up boys…It’s cold out there!
